In 1989 when George and Marylou Hazard bought their first deer they didn't realize just how much their lives were about to change. What started out as a hobby farm quickly changed into Real Scent Deer Farm, where they worked full time producing deer scents for the hunting industry.

In 2005 George and Marylou sold the business and most of their deer and laid the foundation for a new path in the deer industry. The new found focus was on genetics and raising the best animals the industry has to offer. This out with the old and in with the new plan for the farm started with the creation of RED CEDAR WHITETAILS. It continued with revamping the entire farm: the pasture layout, the feed, building a corral, a handling facility, a larger nursery for the little ones, and purchasing a new herd from some of the best deer farmers in the country. Meeting and becoming friends with other deer farmers is one part of the business that George and Marylou love. Just try and find another industry in which one business owner can call another and get honest advice on any subject. This family like atmosphere has made it easy for George and Marylou to become even more involved in the industry.

In 2003 George was voted onto the board of the Pennsylvania Deer Farmers Association, and in 2006 George became the Vice-President of the board. As a Vice President George plays a part in supporting not just Pennsylvania deer farmers, but all deer farmers.
